Local activities while staying at West Branch


While enjoying your stay at West Branch Angler there are many local options and attractions that are worth checking out to make the most of your day.  We are conveniently located within a few minutes drive from some great natural attractions and with abundant public access to thousands of acres of public land in both New York and Pennsylvania.


  


Cannonsville reservoir is open to the public, after obtaining a free access permit from the DEP, providing 95.7 billion gallons of freshwater for boating, fishing and kayaking.  Cannonsville has a healthy populations of smallmouth bass, brown trout, pickerel and various panfish for your angling pleasure.  If you are taking a recreational boat to the reservoir you must have it steam cleaned prior to launching.  State Route 10 parallels the shores of Cannonsville from the town of Deposit up to the town of Walton and makes for a beautiful afternoon drive, both in a car or on a bike.  


There are also some really great indoor activities if activities if the weather isn't cooperating during your stay, like the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum in Livingston Manor, NY which does a great job of highlighting the rich fly fishing heritage found only in the Catskills.  Check out there website for up-to-date events during the spring through the fall seasons.


If you're hungry you may want to check out Delaware Delicacies Smokehouse, which is located in Hancock, NY on the banks of the East Branch of the Delaware river.  Proprietor Ray Turner will not only open your eyes to living off of the land but he also produces some of the finest smoked meats and cheeses you will ever come across.
